My very first computer passed away last week. He was old, he was sick, but I wasn't prepared for him to go like this.
Sugar Baby was a trusty soul. He accompanied me everywhere: from Brooklyn to my parents' house in the Georgia mountains to Florence, Paris, London, Tunis, and many other faraway places I no longer remember. He was more machine than I knew what to do with, but he never showed off or mocked me.
His death was not sudden, and it was not painless. He was ready to retire gradually; I tried to prolong his youth. He was an older, modest sort; I tried to give him bling. He wanted peace; I created havoc.
Out of respect, there will be no photos of the deceased. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that shares of Apple (ticker symbol AAPL) be donated to Lily's college fund.
So sad! On the bright side - now you get a new computer!
